MISSION STATEMENT

Everett/Revere Youth Hockey Association is a sanctioned non-profit organization TAX ID# IS 52-1885761.

 

 It is our goal to provide opportunities for our children and  future citizens to learn the values of good sportsmanship through participating in our hockey program (s). We strive to instruct all players with the highest levels of proficiency in skating skills, abide by the rules of fair play, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and to instill the value of Team Spirit through this activity. We do this by selecting the best volunteer coaches and staff, abide by the rules of conduct outlined in our by-laws, advocate and implement zero tolerance policies and elect committed individuals to assure our continued success through general membership elections.

We our proud of our players and encourage parents to volunteer their time through our parent representative program, Fund Raising and most of all Cheering on all of the ERYHA Teams!

Everett-Revere Youth Hockey Association
Effective June 1, 2008
 
I.   Name
Article I. The name of the organization shall be Everett-Revere (ER), Youth Hockey Association, Inc., hereinafter referred to in these By-laws as “Association.”
 
II. Purpose
To provide a supervised program of skating, hockey instruction and hockey competition for the youth of the cities of Everett and Revere and other members from surrounding communities. To instill the concepts of good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and physical fitness for each of our association’s participants. Our emphasis is to develop and maintain a youth hockey program which upholds the requirements of Mass Hockey and USA Hockey By-Laws, Rules and Regulations.
 
III. Membership
Parents and Guardians of youth participants, who are in good standing within the Association, (Good Standing is defined as a registered member in compliance by meeting all financial obligations to the Association), all Officers, Directors and Coaches are eligible for membership in the Association.
 
IV.  Officers and Board of Directors
A.)   Officers shall be responsible for the day to day business of the Association and shall manage the property, affairs and business of the Association. The Board of Directors shall consist of 10 members. (5 officers and 5 directors).
B.)   The Board of Directors will be elected by the membership at the Annual general membership meeting.
C.)   Directors and Officers terms of office shall be as follows: Officers will serve for 2 years and the Directors will serve for 1 year.
D.) Vacancies: If a vacancy occurs through a resignation, removal for failure to fulfill duties of the office, or other legitimate cause, the remaining members will fill the vacancy by a majority vote for individuals who are in good standing.
E.)   The Board of Directors may remove any board member or any member of the Association with a required 2/3 majority vote. Removal from the Association for just cause is defined by: Inappropriate action in any manner contrary to the organization’s rules, violation of the by-laws, and failure to meet financial obligation to the Association.
 
V. Tenure of office
A.)   The Term of all officers and Directors shall be as follows:
1.)     Elected for 2 year term, President, Secretary, Treasurer, District Representative. Hockey/Coaching Coordinator.
2.)   Elected for 1 year term: Each Level Director
 
 
VI.  Authority to appropriate funds
The President and Treasurer have the authority to appropriate funds
for the Association.
 
VII.             Duties of Officers and Directors
A.)   President
1.)     Shall preside over the General Membership meeting.
2.)     Is Chairperson of the Board of Directors
3.)     Shall be allowed to vote in case of a tie
4.)     Shall appoint the committees and select the chairperson of such committees.
5.)     Shall be a member Ex-Officio of all committees.
6.)     Oversee and properly keep all books, reports and certificates as required by law.
7.)    Shall be one of the Officers authorized to sign checks or drafts of the Association along with the Treasurer.
 
B.)   Treasurer/Registrar
1.)     Shall be ultimately responsible over all monies belonging to the Association or any sub committees thereof.
2.)     Shall be one of the Officers authorized to sign checks or drafts of the Association along with the President.
3.)     Render an accounting of the Financial condition of the Association at all monthly Board meetings.
4.)     Shall pay all the bills of the Association as authorized under these by-laws or by the Board of Directors approval
5.)    Registrar: Responsible for compliance with all Mass Hockey and USA Hockey Rules.
 
C.)   Secretary
1.)     Responsible for notifying all members and Board of Directors when meetings are scheduled.
2.)     Attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and keep accurate records of all proceedings of the meetings.
3.)     Attend the required four (4) General Membership meetings. Maintain minutes. Provide Mass Hockey copies of the various notices provided to inform the membership of said meetings in accordance to Article IX, of these By-Laws.
4.)     Provide Mass Hockey Association the nomination proceedings and final Board of Directors election results.
5.)    Perform such duties and have additional powers as the Board of Directors may designate.
 
D.)   Hockey Director
1.)     Shall supervise all players and coaching personnel
2.)     Shall select coaching staff in coordination with the Ace Coordinator/Coaching Coordinator with approval of the majority members of the Board of Directors.
3.)     Instruct all coaches and assistants that they are required to attend league coaching seminars when offered.
4.)     Conduct monthly coaches meeting with coaches and their assistants.
5.)     Shall oversee the proper accreditation of the coaching staff.
6.)     Shall be responsible to see that USA Hockey and Mass Hockey regulations governing participation shall be observed.
7.)     Mediate any and all complaints concerning coaches with any hockey league, Mass Hockey and or parents.
 
 
E.) Ace Coordinator/Coaching Coordinator
1.)     Shall be responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated coaching curriculum.
2.)     Shall assist the hockey director in supporting the coaching staff to assure compliance with the curriculum of Everett-Revere youth Hockey, Mass Hockey and USA hockey.
 
VIII.        Elections
 
F.)   Elections
1.)     The Officers and the Board of Directors shall be elected at the Annual meeting and take office at the adjournment of the Annual meeting, to take effect on June 1 of each calendar year.
2.)     No member shall be eligible for office or be allowed to vote at the election, unless all financial obligations (Good Standing) have been paid before the conclusion of the previous hockey season.
3.)     Nominations for elections shall be posted 30 days prior to the Annual Election of Officers/Board of Directors. Election results will be forwarded to the Mass Hockey Association no later than Two (2) weeks after the election.
4.)      Ensure that membership and voting powers of its governing body consist of not less than 20% of members who have children actively skating in the association.
 
 
IX.               Meetings
1.)     The Board of Directors will have no fewer than four (4) meetings per year and open to all members of the association.
2.)     One of the four (4) mandatory meetings will be an annual meeting, at which time:
·         A written financial report for the most recent year ending shall be presented to its members, and
·         The election of its Board of Directors shall be held.
·         Such meetings shall be conducted in accordance with generally accepted parliamentary procedures.
·         Forward to the Association Registration Committee of Massachusetts Hockey, within two (2) weeks of said meeting, the following documentation:
I.               Date, time and location of the meeting,
II.             Agenda
III.            Minutes
IV.          Nominees and winners of the annual election and
V.            Method of communication (rink posting, newspaper, web site etc). which served as notice to the eligible members of the association regarding the meeting.
·         Deliver copies of its By-Laws and/or Constitution Rules/Regulations, including methods of becoming an Officer or Director, method of selecting coaches, definition of membership and voting rights, and a list of currentOfficers and Directors, available to all parents, coaches, players and other members of the association:
·         Abide by Massachusetts Hockey’s By-Laws, Rules and Regulations, Policies and procedures, including but not limited to: those regarding the prevention of Physical and Sexual Abuse.
·         Secure and submit individual Membership Registration forms (IMR’s) from all members and prepare team rosters for all teams and
·         Pay required fees as established by USA hockey and Massachusetts Hockey and as set out in the Fee Schedule herein.
·         Maintain a file of signed Massachusetts Hockey Coaches Code of Conduct for each Coach and Manager,
·         Maintain a file of signed Waiver of Liability forms for each player, coach and manager.
·         No association may refuse to register a skater, who resides within the Association’s geographic boundaries for any reason other than the following:
I.               A player is in arrears of its financial obligations to this or any other Association
II.             The player is subject to disciplinary action by the Association or Massachusetts Hockey or
III.            The Association has no space available.

XI.               Grievances
 
1.        Any member aggrieved by the actions or inappropriate conduct, of any Officer, Director, Coach, Fellow member or Player may request a hearing in writing before the Board of Directors.
 
XII.             Indemnification
The organization hereby consents and declares that each Officer, Member of the Board of Directors, Chairperson and Members of Committees and all elected or appointed officials in any capacity shall be deemed to assumed office on the express understanding, agreement and conditions that each one of them and his/her heirs, successors and assigns and executors and administrators respectively shall from time to time and at all times be indemnified and saved harmless from and against all liabilities, judgments, costs, charges, and expenses whatsoever which such member shall sustain or incur in any action, suit or proceeding brought or commenced against him/her and in respect of any act, deed, matter or thing made, done or permitted to be done by him/her in the execution of the duties of his/her office and also from and against all other costs, charges and expenses which he/she sustains or incurs in or about or in relation to the affairs thereof, except that which is occasioned by his/her willful and intentional default or neglect.
 
XIII.           Amendments
1.)     Amendments to these by laws must be passed by a 2/3 majority vote of the Board of Directors.
2.)   These by laws are the sole document governing the direction and management of the Association and supersede any and all earlier policies established prior to this date of incorporation.
XIV.         Completeness
A.)            These By-Laws are the sole document governing the operation and management of the organization and any and all earlier documents, policies, etc. are hereby in effect at the approval and incorporation of the Mass Hockey, USA Hockey and State sanctioned governing bodies.
 
XV.           Parliamentary Procedure Authority
A.) Robert’s Rules of Parliamentary Procedure shall govern in all cases to which they are applicable and as long as they are not inconsistent with these By-Laws.
